|Covid 19: Due to the dusty and noisy environment of natural stone manufacturing, it is almost impossible for our small number of staff to work close to one and another. Our stone masons have to wear a mask to work under normal circumstances. We are are still open and working. Please feel free to make an enquiry.|
Individually crafted and bespoke staddle stones
JB Stone Masonry supplies sandstone staddle stones for a variety of purposes including supporting oak framed structures, grain stores, storage sheds, oak orangeries, oak porches, garden rooms and agricultural and farm storage buildings. Staddle stones (also known as settle stones, mushroom stones, stone mushrooms or pad stones) have also become increasingly popular as decorative features in gardens and outside spaces.
Below are images of some of the custom staddle stones we have made to order.
Every staddle stone we make is completely bespoke. We manufacture all our staddle stones from sandstone including Cheshire Red Sandstone – the same sandstone used in many heritage buildings such as Chester Cathedral. We will make staddle stones to meet your exact size and design specifications and will hand tool them where appropriate as well.

Stainless steel dowels for oak staddle stones
We supply stainless steel dowels for locating the oak on to the staddle stone. The dowels are 12mm in diameter and 150mm long. Why is it important to use stainless steel? If you use a mild steel dowel, when the dowel eventually rusts, the dowel will expand and will either split the oak post or the stone. Stainless steel will not rust and will not split either the oak or the staddle stone. If you would like stainless steel dowels they are £3.60 each Inc VAT.
Our standard staddle stones
Our standard staddle stones come in three colours of natural stone. Our stones also come in a range of different sizes to match your oak size. The staddle stones also come in two standard heights. Please see the table below for the prices of our standard pad stones.
Please see below for the price table for our standard staddle stones (all prices include VAT). We make two standard heights, 225mm and 300mm. We make staddle stones for five different oak sizes from 100mm through to 200mm (non standard sizes available on request). On the table, the stone heights are pink and the oak sizes are in purple.
Shipping is around £60-£72 per pallet Inc VAT depending on weight and location.
Our non standard sized staddle stones
For a quotation on non-standard sized staddle stones, please add the sizes to the boxes (as indicated by the drawing). We also make staddle stones with less than 4 sides for corners or garage doors. Please Let us know in the notes if you would like less sides of the staddle stone chanfered. Feel free to use metric or imperial measurements but please let me know in the notes section which unit you have used.
