Below is one of our fireplace designs. It was drawn so the new fireplace would work with the existing opening, you will notice the the ratio of height to width look’s right. The sizes are displayed in inches on this drawing, we design in metric or imperial, depending on your preference.
The following information is intended as a guide for clients, builders, developers and architects who are not
Familiar with natural stone fireplaces.
1) Timescale.
All jobs in natural stone are different from each other, therefore we do not keep items “on the shelf” like a builders merchant. Each stone is sawn from large quarry blocks, to your specified dimensions and then masoned by hand. This can be a lengthy process, therefore, please place your order well in advance.
2) Working in natural stone.
We aim to maintain the highest standards of skill and workmanship in all our fireplaces and we will meet any challenge you may set us. We can usually reproduce whatever features that you may envisage. However, Masonry work is expensive so run your ideas through us, and we will advise you on the price, there may be an easier and more economical way to produce the same effect.
3) Colour.
Stone is a natural material like wood, and like wood, has a grain. The colours and patterns of natural stone enhance the beauty of our products. We would welcome anyone who would like to see our selection of natural stones at our yard, please contact us to arrange a visit.
4) Staining.
Natural stone is a porous material and may stain.
Prevention: You would not let someone put a glass of red wine down on your new carpet, so do not let them put it down on your natural stone fireplace.
However natural stone can be cleaned, all you need is a bucket of clean water and a clean sponge or scrubbing brush (Not a wire brush).
